Upper Belvedere
Home to the world's most famous kiss and a breathtaking symbol of Baroque architecture.
Gustav Klimt & Austrian Art
The Upper Belvedere is globally renowned for housing the world's largest collection of paintings by **Gustav Klimt**. The highlight, of course, is the iconic "The Kiss" (Lovers), a masterpiece of the Vienna Secession that draws millions of visitors every year.
Beyond Klimt, the museum offers a comprehensive journey through eight centuries of Austrian art history, from the Middle Ages to the present day. You'll encounter works by Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, and masterpieces of international Impressionism.
Baroque Splendor
The building itself is an artwork. Commissioned by Prince Eugene of Savoy and designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt, the Upper Belvedere was completed in 1723. It served as a venue for splendid festivals and state receptions.
Don't miss the Marble Hall, where the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955, marking the birth of modern independent Austria. The Sala Terrena and the Palace Chapel are also must-see architectural highlights.
