The Belvedere Gardens represent one of Europe's finest examples of Baroque garden design. Created in the early 18th century as a setting for Prince Eugene of Savoy's summer palace, the gardens follow a formal, symmetrical layout that creates a perfect visual axis between the Upper and Lower Belvedere palaces.
The gardens were designed not merely as decoration, but as an integral part of Prince Eugene's diplomatic and social life. The carefully planned vistas, water features, and sculptural programs were meant to impress visitors and demonstrate the prince's power, taste, and cultural sophistication.
